Sri Baban Gorai is the Founder and Director of Burnpur Panthers and a distinguished figure in the fields of mountaineering, athletics, boxing, youth training, and social service. An Athletics and Boxing Coach at SAIL–ISP, he has devoted his life to promoting discipline, physical fitness, adventure, and character-building among the younger generation.

He is an Arts Graduate from The University of Burdwan and holds a Post Graduate Degree in Master of Social Work (MSW) from Netaji Subhas Open University. Sri Gorai has successfully completed both the Basic and Advanced Mountaineering Courses from the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, along with Civil Defence Basic, Advanced, and Rescue Training.

A State, National, and International medalist in Athletics, he has earned distinction in the 800 Metres Run, including an International Gold Medal at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has also won medals in Swimming and Boxing at prestigious state and inter-steel plant championships. As a trainer, mentor, and adventure leader, Sri Baban Gorai continues to inspire and guide countless young individuals towards excellence in sports, mountaineering, government service, and responsible citizenship.

Founder’s Profile

Sri Baban Gorai is the Founder and Director of Burnpur Panthers, a youth-focused social welfare and adventure organization dedicated to physical training, mountaineering, athletics, leadership development, and community service. A respected Athletics and Boxing Coach at SAIL–ISP, he has spent years mentoring young athletes, adventure enthusiasts, and government job aspirants.

An Arts Graduate from The University of Burdwan and a Post Graduate in Master of Social Work (MSW) from Netaji Subhas Open University, Sri Gorai combines academic grounding with practical excellence in sports and social service.

He has successfully completed both the Basic Mountaineering Course (2002) and the Advanced Mountaineering Course (2010) from the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, along with Civil Defence Basic, Advanced, and Rescue Training. His expedition profile includes Satopanth Trek, Mount Bhanoti Expedition, Mount Jogin I & III Expedition, Unnamed Peak Expedition, Everest Base Camp Trek, and Sandakphu Trek. He has also served as an Instructor of the National Adventure Foundation and completed the “Train the Trainer” Course at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi.

A State, National, and International Medalist, Sri Baban Gorai has achieved distinction in the 800 Metres Run, including an International Gold Medal at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, along with medals in Swimming and Boxing at major championships. In 2025, he represented the All India Steel Plant Sports Board as the Under-17 Boys’ and Girls’ National Coach at Rohtak, Haryana.

Sri Baban Gorai is the visionary behind Burnpur Panthers — a dedicated mentor, mountaineer, athletics coach, boxing trainer, and social worker whose life has been shaped by discipline, adventure, service, and the pursuit of excellence. Through his leadership, Burnpur Panthers has grown into a platform that empowers youth through physical training, mountaineering, sports development, social awareness, and community welfare.

He serves as an Athletics and Boxing Coach at SAIL–ISP and has consistently worked towards nurturing young talent, guiding government job aspirants, and promoting a healthy, disciplined, and purposeful lifestyle among the younger generation.
